anna fang public relations was the appointed PR consultant for the international event and worked on the international art and culture project for nearly eight months. The media plan for “Hong Kong in Venice” required strategic thinking and conceptualization on how to get media who were not able to attend the exhibition in Venice – to do interviews and publicity on Hong Kong’s Quotidian Architectures. This strategy covered the art / design / architecture media in Hong Kong, China, US, UK, Europe, Italy and overseas. A multi-country approach was necessary in order to bring attention to the Hong Kong architects and artists involved in “Hong Kong in Venice”. The media were allowed to select which architects / artists they wanted to interview. Media coverage began in August 2010 and extended through March 2011.
Thirteen groups of exhibitors comprising architects, designers, photographers and writers / critics took part in the Venice Biennale in Architecture "Quotidian Architectures" demonstrates how design can create socially and environmentally responsible architectures through presenting collaborative and cross-disciplinary projects that incorporate six aspects of people's basic needs: Clothing, Food, Dwelling, Transport, Education and Leisure. The architects / artists were based in Hong Kong but many of them were originally from overseas such as Greg Girard, Michael Wolf, Norman Foster, Rem Koolhaas, etc.
Funding organisations were Create Hong Kong, Commerce and Economic Development Bureau and the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority, HKSAR. Other sponsors include: Orient Overseas Container Line, Sino-Forest Corporation, University of Hong Kong's Faculty of Architecture, and Rising Aerial Platform. The Quotidian Architectures was co-organised by The Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA) and Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC).
